Simple Addition
(Or Pythagorean Addition)

This is the way Pythagoreans compiled Number down to its Core Elements. It is simple to do, and gives simple answers, but the reasoning behind this is quite complex. In a nutshell, all number follows specific patterns, and adding number to itself in an "Add down" fashion reveals the main pattern at work. This is part of Vedic Math, which uses "Songs" or Sutras rather than multiplication or division to get answers to complex equations.

In your practice of Divinity Dice there are basic things to learn. Primarily there is the base line technique that is used in every section of the book… This is what we call SIMPLE ADDITION.

How Simple Addition works is, as the name implies, simple. Add numbers together to form a composite number, or a first addition. EG: You may have the numbers 5, 7, 8, 3 and 9  in a series of Dice Throws. This all adds to 5+7+8+3+9 = 32. This is the COMPOSITE Number from the addition of all the numbers shown on the dice.

We do two things here. We look up the meaning of 32, and we also ADD THIS DOWN to its next ‘level” this is done by simply adding the 3 and the 2 to become Five … 3+2 = 5

FIVE is the simple addition of 32. This addition gives us the Fadic or FATE number. And in effect, the throws of the dice that gave us the series of numbers 5, 7, 8, 3 and 9 now give us TWO Numbers to look at in order to work out what the throw means.

We have 32 and we have 5. In the Divinity and Decimal Dice series we have interpretations for ALL aspects and numbers we discuss. A brief summary is:

·         Numbers between One and Twelve come under the designation of FATE (Fadic) Numbers.

·         Numbers between One and Sixty come under the designation of COMPOSITE Numbers.

Let’s practice working out the numbers from three “pretend” throws of a ten sided dice: Throw the dice Six times. We get

·         4, 6, 7, 0, 9, 1  4 + 6 + 7 + 0 + 9 + 1 = 27   (27 Composite) Then… 2 + 7 = 9 (Fadic)

·         5, 8, 2, 1, 8, 2  5 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 8 + 2 = 26   (26 Composite) Then… 2 + 6 = 8 (Fadic)

·         6, 2, 9, 3, 1, 1  6 + 2 + 9 + 3 + 1 + 1 =  22   (22 Composite) Then… 2 + 2 = 4 (Fadic)

Firstly look up your additions in the COMPOSITE Interpretations. Secondly look up in the second addition in the FATE or FADIC Interpretations. That’s Simple Addition! It really IS simple. Add up the numbers and refer to the book to find your interpretation for your roll of the Dice.

That’s it! This is the first step in understanding Divinity Dice. If you can do this, the rest of the book will be easy to work out.
