The Musician Game : Sing that Song Here we use the 12 sided dice to figure out many things. Do you want to write a new song? Then the dice will suggest the Key you could write it in. The pattern of Notes to number is very straightforward, and according to the principles of ancient Greek Music (We need to remember that Pythagoras was the man who defined and proved the harmonics of the 12 tone scale) It is a very simple pattern (below) that follows the “Musical Alphabet”. EG: If you throw a Six, it means to look at the key of “D” for your next song. But we can take things a little further than this, if we wish.
We can take FIVE throws, and from the notes of these throws, work out the SCALE and/or CHORDS we need to be looking at in creating this song. It may be in “D”, but then we throw 12, 7, 5, 6 and 7 again. We need to incorporate chords or scales wrapped around the Flat 5th, Flat 2nd, Major 7th, and Tonic. That is not so easy, hey? It is an incredible challenge in getting your theory to work for you, and you will get the most amazing songs from this stupidly simple, concept. It only appears simple, for behind the Mathematics of Music there is a whole world of consciousness. We won’t go there in this book, however. At any rate, an example of how to run a “Line” of harmony through the this combination is to play the following Chord structure. 4/4 |: Ebm Abm / Ebm Abm / Ebm Abm / Dbdim / Dm7 :| It’s a curious chord pattern, but the ENERGY of this pattern will suggest a slight Jazz, be bop tempo. Give it some funk, and soon you will have a Number One record. If you practice this simple technique, and learn to apply it, many doors to musicality will open for you. Music is really mathematics, and we are using sacred mathematics to generate a random pattern that is really a music puzzle. If you are learning to apply theory into practice, or if you are the experienced musician just looking for greater inspiration, this is one of the best games you can possibly play. |
