Gypsy Dice Gypsy folk have been using dice for divination for centuries. Fortune telling by dice is not as popular today as many other forms of divination, although it is still widely practiced, especially in Tibet. The traditional gypsy method of reading the dice has been passed down for many centuries... A throw of the Dice was called a “trial”. Take three dice, shake them well with your left hand and throw them on a table where you have drawn a large circle with chalk. (You may want to substitute a large sheet of paper.) If one die rolls out of the ring, it signifies that plans will be upset, two denotes an argument, three good fortune. Those that fall on the floor indicate worry and annoyance in the near future. If one die remains on the top of the other dice, it is bad luck for you, so please take care. If the same number comes twice at a trial, you will get news from afar. Never shake the dice over three times at a trial. If you do, the prophecy will not come true, and may even backfire!! Traditionally, we use three Six Sided Dice. Either One, Two or all three. Obviously the throw of Two gave only 11 possibilities, as you could get no One in a double throw, and obviously in a three dice throw you could not get a number of less than three or more than Eighteen. By using polyhedral Dice we can correct this shortcoming. In the version of Gypsy Dice given in Divinity Dice we use the 6, 12 and 20 sided Dice and accordingly use the Numbers One to Twenty. The original game had a variation which used a piece of paper with 12 sections drawn. When a Die landed in one of the these divisions it indicated the “house” into which your reading would fall. However for now let’s focus on how to play the Game using the D6, D12 and D20. It is quick, it is easy, and it is fun. The throw of the Six Sided Dice comes first (D6) This generates the overall outcome or direction of the reading. Next the 12 Sided Dice is thrown (D12). This indicates the “House” or area of influence the reading falls into. Last, the 20 sided Dice is thrown (D20). This speaks of outcomes and alignments. So
give it a go… It is as simple as throwing the Dice in order, and looking up the
interpretation. This also prepares us for the more complicated “Forms” of the
Divinity Dice that are to come. Write to us for interpretations at

Do you need some Dice? For Polyhedral Dice, go to www.koplow.com in the US and www.dice.co.uk in Europe. They will direct you to a reseller in your local area. As always… Before you throw the Dice, have a question written down BEFORE you throw the Dice. If you are looking to find an answer ALWAYS ask your question BEFORE you throw the Dice.
